This is a wonderful, historical item, very collectible for linguists and others interested in how the English language has developed. It is rare to find such an old edition of this work. As well as the expected words and definitions, this item credits all contributors with their pictures, contains many black and white illustrations and occasional colour plates, has an atlas at the end of the first volume, and scientific letters, proper names, and disputed spellings and pronunciations at the end of the second volume. It truly is a snapshot of the state of the English language at the turn of the 20th century. Although the condition of the volumes is not great, they are complete as far as I can ascertain, and can be enjoyed fully.
