Organ combos have a long and unsung history in jazz. Like so many organists, Doggett began as a pianist leading his own band, but after stints with Lucky Millinder s band and Louis Jordan s jump blues band he worked with the popular vocal group, the Ink Spots, and switched to Hammond organ in 1950.
